Employee Spotlight: Austin Howard
Austin Howard joined United Systems in 2023. He serves on the company’s Networking Help Desk, helping ensure our employees’ and customers’ hardware and software needs are met.
He plays a pivotal role in maintaining United Systems’ customer-centric image. On any given day, he may be found troubleshooting network issues, configuring hardware, or providing one-on-one support to our employees or customers — including traveling to customer locations for in-person assistance.
Austin embarked on his IT career path after graduating from West Kentucky Community and Technical College in 2022 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in IT.
Before joining United Systems, Austin was a key team member at Parcells Deli & Grille, where he worked for three years. He enjoyed being behind the grill, whipping up jalapeno burgers and other Parcells staples, and took the opportunity to increase his attention to detail, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
He can make a mean hamburger, but, sadly, we have yet to benefit from this at the office!

Working with technology and learning new things every day.
What do you like the most about working at United Systems?
The people I get to work with. We laugh and have a good time while working, which is important, but we also work great together to solve problems and research new IT solutions.
Fun fact: Austin has a twin sister! And when he’s not working, Austin likes to read, play video games, and create/edit videos.
As utilities continue to adopt our UPM platform and its included Managed IT/Networking service, Austin’s contributions to Networking will undoubtedly become even more crucial. His willingness to always try and help, no matter the complexity, is one of the traits that truly sets him apart.
We’re happy to have him as a part of the United Systems team (despite not grilling us some delicious burgers).
