Your opportunity

We’re seeking a dynamic and motivated person to fill the role of Inside Sales Support.

The individual chosen will purchase commodity and manufacturer specific materials for inventory and customer special orders, manage and maintain vendor relationships, and maintain product specific information, among other duties (listed below).

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Purchase stock inventory and special-order materials for resale.
  • Communicate closely with vendors to confirm pricing and delivery of materials to MSS and customer locations.
  • Negotiate best pricing for stock inventory, special-order and project specific items.
  • Maintain computer records of inventory items to include accurate description, costing, pricing, vendor, and specific product information.
  • Daily review of inventory needs by running established replenishment reports. Tracks stock levels.
  • Coordinate and manage product returns.
  • Maintain existing (and establish new) vendor agreements and relationships.
  • Works with outside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  • Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services.
  • Handles inbound calls to convert leads into sales.  Meets with walk-in customers at MSS office as needed.
  • Emphasizes sellable features, quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales orders. Overcomes the technical and business objections of prospective customers. Provides product demos to qualified customers on request. Coordinates customer training.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer—based on knowledge of company’s delivery schedules. Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
  • Builds and maintains customer relationships through excellent customer service and proactive problem resolution.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Travels to and attends trade shows.

Other Duties:

  • Back-up for Counter Sales and warehouse as necessary.
  • Duties as determined and communicated by management on a day-to-day basis.

Pay range and benefits

Starting Salary: $28.00 / hr (commensurate with experience – evaluated and adjusted annually based on performance)

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent)

Experience: Minimum 1-year experience in wholesale distribution inside sales and/or purchasing. Experience in the utility industry is a plus.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Intermediate math (discounts, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, basic algebra & geometry), reading (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedure manuals) and writing (quotes, routine reports, business correspondence/email) skills.
  • Solid reasoning skills, including the ability to solve practical problems, deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists, and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and to make generalizations, evaluations, or decisions without immediate, direct supervision.
  • Ability to establish priorities and maintain a work pace appropriate for a changing workload.
  • Ability to communicate and function effectively as part of a work team.
  • Ability to relate to other employees in a professional manner and to interact appropriately with the public.
  • Intermediate-level computer skills & the ability to learn Word, Excel, inventory software, and order processing systems.
